What does the trend colour Mocha Mousse have to do with skincare?
Every year brings new trends – and that applies to the world of colours as well. The trend colour for 2025 is: Mocha Mousse. This warm, elegant shade of brown is reminiscent of chocolate mousse and creamy coffee. It exudes modern aesthetics and timeless elegance – and it's not just making waves in the fashion world; Mocha Mousse is also making its mark in the skincare industry. We spoke with the marketing team at VINOBLE COSMETICS about the role of colour in brand identity and why they have embraced this trend colour for years.
VINOBLE COSMETICS: Sophie and Nina, we all know that colours have a strong emotional impact and shape our subconscious. How does this knowledge influence the strategic work of a company?
Sophie Gaber: Colours are much more than just an aesthetic element – they shape our perception, convey values, and create a connection between a brand and its consumers. A well-thought-out colour concept builds trust and is a powerful tool for anchoring a brand in consumers' minds, fostering long-term brand loyalty.
Nina Polic: Colours and colour trends undoubtedly play a crucial role in brand communication, but they must always align with a company's philosophy. A colour may be trendy for a moment, but building a long-term emotional bond with consumers requires a carefully curated colour concept that truly reflects the brand’s values and identity. Consistency in colour design enhances brand recognition, which ultimately influences purchasing decisions. Companies should not just follow trends but select colours that establish a lasting connection with their brand and carry deeper meaning over time.
VINOBLE COSMETICS: How do you identify new colour trends, and what criteria determine whether a trend is integrated into VINOBLE COSMETICS’ brand strategy or not?
Sophie Gaber: Market analysis, trend research, and close observation of developments in fashion, interior design, and other design industries help us identify emerging colour trends early on. Art, architecture, and cultural movements also influence aesthetic developments. It’s essential to consider which colours truly evoke emotions and associations to determine whether they align with our corporate identity.
Nina Polic: Exactly. A trend colour only becomes part of our brand strategy if it is not only aesthetically appealing but also aligns with our long-term values. We prioritize colours that emphasize our philosophy of natural beauty, minimalist luxury, and sustainability. We only incorporate short-lived trends if they fit organically into our existing concept and provide real added value for our customers.
VINOBLE COSMETICS: How do you handle short-lived trends? Can you give us a concrete example of how this works in practice?
Sophie Gaber: A good example is the trend colour Bordeaux red, which was particularly popular in the Fall/Winter 2024 season but is already being replaced by other colour trends. However, we deliberately used this shade for our limited-edition 2024 Christmas line because it perfectly embodies VINOBLE COSMETICS' values: elegance, warmth, and exclusivity. It was a perfect match for the festive season and a limited collection. Our products were packaged in luxurious velvet bags in Bordeaux red, reinforcing the exclusivity of the collection. This allowed us to leverage a current trend without deviating from our long-term design strategy.
VINOBLE COSMETICS: Back to the trend colour Mocha Mousse – is it a long-term development or just a temporary hype?
Nina Polic: We strongly believe that Mocha Mousse and similar earthy tones are more than just a short-term trend. Natural hues have been firmly established across various industries for years because they reflect values that are becoming increasingly relevant to consumers today.
VINOBLE COSMETICS: Why do you think Mocha Mousse is a perfect fit for the skincare industry, and how do you incorporate this trend colour?
Nina Polic: This shade is primarily associated with warmth, nature, and comfort – all of which are fundamental to VINOBLE COSMETICS. These values define our brand and what a modern skincare company should stand for. It’s about creating authentic care experiences for our customers in a world where wellness and self-care are gaining importance. Design and colour play a crucial role in this.
Sophie Gaber: Mocha Mousse and other earthy, calming tones have been a part of VINOBLE COSMETICS since our 2019 rebranding. Our goal was to evoke a sense of sustainable relaxation in our consumers. These colours are an integral part of our corporate design – from our logo and print materials to digital imagery and packaging design.
VINOBLE COSMETICS: How does the packaging design in Mocha Mousse look, especially considering your conscious decision to forgo outer packaging?
Sophie Gaber: It starts with the materials of our glass jars and bottles – we intentionally use dark brown glass. Not only does it exude luxury and elegance, but it also offers maximum protection for the valuable ingredients from light exposure, ensuring our products maintain their full efficacy for longer. Another highlight is our textile labels, which are also in the Mocha Mousse shade. They provide a premium tactile experience while also representing sustainability and environmental awareness. We don’t need outer packaging to create a stylish product – by deliberately avoiding it, we make a clear statement for modern, eco-friendly skincare.
Nina Polic: All of our products, regardless of size or type of closure, feature a consistent design. This enhances brand recognition and adds a touch of luxury to any bathroom. Our customers appreciate that their skincare products are visually coordinated, creating a refined and modern look. A cohesive design that balances functionality and aesthetics reinforces our commitment to stylish, sustainable skincare.
VINOBLE COSMETICS: Finally, what colour trends or design developments do you foresee for the skincare industry in the coming years, and how will VINOBLE COSMETICS respond?
Sophie Gaber: The trend towards natural, earthy tones that convey tranquility and well-being will continue. Additionally, cooler nature-inspired accents such as sage green or sandstone beige will complement these tones – an approach we are already incorporating into our VINOBLE COSMETICS pure line. Here, the classic design has been consciously enhanced with these shades to further emphasize the freshness and purity of our natural cosmetics line.
Nina Polic: At VINOBLE COSMETICS, we will continue to focus on timeless aesthetics that align with our values. While we remain attentive to new colour trends, we stay true to our clear design philosophy. Colours should not only reflect trends but also embody longevity and sustainability. Our challenge is to strike a balance between current movements and a cohesive brand presence that consistently provides our customers with a sense of luxury and comfort.
